How to scan a biz card?

Open SharkID App > Menu > Scan Biz Card. That's it. 

You can see all cards you have scanned in SharkID > Contacts > Filter > Scanned Cards

If the card is not machine-readable, it will be manually digitized by SharkID team. Once it is digitized, it will be reflected under scanned cards as shown above.

Business Card Scanning FAQ

You can now Scan Biz Card with SharkID, here is all you need to know about it.

1. Now digitize customers or visitors biz cards in 2 easy steps: 
a. Take Picture of Biz Cards
b. View Contact  in Phonebook or Download Excel / VCF File

2. Before you proceed, decide who you want to scan cards for?
a. Yourself. All cards you scan will get saved in your SharkID phonebook.
b. Scanning on behalf of Senior Professionals > Take user email id e.g. ramesh@SharkID.in
c. Scanning on behalf of Company >  Take company email id e.g. sales@SharkID.in

3. How to scan biz cards for Yourself?
Open SharkID App >  Menu > Scan Biz Cards
All cards you scan, will get added to your contact. If you wish to see only scanned cards go to SharkID > Contacts > Filter > Scanned cards

4. How to scan biz cards for Others?
If you are scanning biz cards for others do the following;
a. Open SharkID > Menu > Setting > Click "Scan others biz card"

b. Ask user, if they want contacts in Email 
If Yes. Ask for their email ID.
Ask user to visit www.SharkID.in & create an account to download the file.

b. Ask user, if they want contacts to be saved in their phonebook
If Yes. Ask for their referral code.

Please ensure that the user has created an account before you start scanning cards. Use the same email id.

5. How data is digitized?
a. After you take pictures of visiting cards, Shark ID intelligent AI digitizes data.
b This is then verified by humans & approved.
Once cards are approved, it gets reflected in your account. With time accuracy of our software will increase, so we expect patience from our patrons.

6. Important Points to be kept in mind when scanning/taking pictures
- Capture pictures in landscape mode /Horizontally
- Capture in full light
- Avoid lamp or reflection
- The image should fit within the rectangle frames
- Ensure the card is properly focused & text is readable

7. What happens after you take pictures?
a. We will convert a high-resolution image that your camera takes into smaller size image to make upload faster & reduce your bandwidth usage.
b. Image is converted into text using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software
c. On Server, OCR text is processed by our AI and biz cards is created

8. How many cards I have scanned?
- Take one picture /card
- If you take 2 or more pictures, the card will get merged on server

9. When Cards get uploaded?
After you have taken pictures, the uploading will start. If you have more than 25 Cards, after taking pictures of 25 cards, close the window such that uploading can start in the background.  You can continue taking pictures of the next 25 cards.

10. What to do in case of 2 Sided business cards i.e. Front & Back Side of 
We only support 1 sided card scanning.  In the case of cards where information is available on 2 sides, take the picture of a side which has name & number.

11. What happens when the same card is Scanned by more than 1 people?
Our AI engine is smart enough to detect the same card and clubs them both.

12. What happens when the card is not properly scanned?
- If Name & mobile number is missing, the card is not created
- If the card is partly scanned, it will get deleted

After you have taken the picture of biz cards, close the screen. After you close scanning screen, the picture will get uploaded on the SharkID, where SharkID AI will digitize it and the user on whose behalf biz card was scanned will get cards back

13. Two formats we support?
a. Excel/CSV format to export data to ERP, CRM, Website, etc.
b. VCF format to export data to Gmail, Phonebook, etc.

15. How to download file?
SharkID will send you an invitation mail to create an account on the email ID you had provided to a person who was scanning it.

16. Who should you trust for scanning cards?
a. You can scan it yourself.
b. If you are busy, you can ask one of your office assistants to scan on your behalf.
c. If you do not have anyone to scan, you can use one of our approved partners.

17. How much do we charge for scanning?
We charge Rs. 1/Card.  Our service includes;
- Scanning fee
- Digitization fee
- 1 Year update
- Back up

18. Do not save biz cards on your phone?
When you take picture of biz cards, they are temporarily saved in your phonebook till it is not successfully uploaded. Cards are not saved in the phonebook. Do not, in any case, open camera & take pictures of biz cards. You will be blacklisted if you do the same. Remember, cards are company/user property & not yours or ours.

19. What happens after Scanning?
Step 1: Once cards are scanned > they are digitized using OCR technology in the phone.
Step 2: Both Image & OCR text is then uploaded on the servers.
Step 3: Card are manually checked, edited & published.
Step 4: User can download data in excel sheet

How to Digitize Visitors Business Card?

How to scan?
SharkID allows you to scan biz card in 3 ways;
- Scan biz card for yourself
- Scan biz card on behalf of your CEO/MD
- Scan biz card on behalf of your Company.

#1 How to scan biz card for yourself?
Step 1: Open SharkID > Go to Menu 
Step 2: Click Scan Biz cards > Give access to the camera
Step 3: Take Picture >  Repeat.
You can scan 10 cards at a times. If you have more than 10 biz cards close the window & start again 

How scanning works?
Step 1: Once you take pictures of cards, images are uploaded on SharkID servers.
Step 2: Images will be refined to make it OCR readable & Text is extracted
Step 3: AI engine processes text to identify the name, designation, address, contact numbers, etc.
Step 4: Mutual friend between you & card owner is identified.
Step 5: Card is pushed back to your phone

SMS Notification:
When you scan card, an SMS is sent to a person whose card was scanned on your behalf;

"Your Name", "Mobile Number" scanned your biz card in SharkID app to find mutual friends between you & him. To grow your network install SharkID app - bit.ly/aaaaaaaa

Important Notice:

At SharkID we believe that we should control who has our number and not another way round that is controlling whose number we have in our phonebook. Hence the above message is being sent. A SharkID user can delete his/her number from your phonebook, so kindly scan cards with the prior permission of biz card owners.

How long does it take to process card?

Image correction, OCR & AI Processing roughly takes approx one minute/card.  When you scan a card, gets queued up behind other cards already in the queue. So it may take anything from a few minutes to hours. Once it is done you will be notified. You get 2 notification. 1. When your image is successfully uploaded. 2. When your card is successfully digitized & added to your contacts.

#2 How to scan biz cards on behalf of someone else.

If you are busy & want your assistant to scan card on your behalf ask him/her to do the following;
Step 1: Open SharkID > Go to Menu > Settings > 
Step 2: Click Scan Others Biz Cards >  Ask her/him to enter your Referral ID or Email ID > 
Step 3: Start scanning, 10 cards at a time

Important: 
If SharkID referral code was provided: After cards are scanned, the contact will get added in your phonebook if your referral code was added.
If email ID was provided at the time of scanning: You can download the data by creating an account on SharkID.in with same email id & download excel sheet or vcf file.

#3 Scan on behalf of a Company
Companies collect 1000's of cards every month because their sales team meet 100's of people or they participate in the exhibition, trade shows, conferences, etc. Now all such biz cards collected can be digitized using SharkID such that it can be pushed to your ERP, CRM, HR System, etc.

How to scan biz cards on behalf of the company?
Step 1: Open SharkID > Go to Menu > Settings > 
Step 2: Click Scan Others Biz Cards >  enter company generic email id i.e. sales@company.com
Step 3: Start scanning, 10 cards at a time

Feature 13 - Tag a Friend to make it easier to remember

The Problem 
Do you have a hard time remembering a contact name? Well no more. You can find all contacts easily, even if you are calling them after years.

The Solution > Tags
All you have to do is tag your contacts. Tags can be a skill, profession,  hobby, company name, family, friend, colleague, city, etc. anything. Next time you want to search that person, just type tag e.g. Dr or Bonsai or Cyclist. 

Default Tags:
By default, you can see 7 Different tags as listed below. Remember, you can add your own custom tags.
- Family
- Friend
- Colleague
- Relative
- Society Member
- Supplier
- Buyer

Custom Tags
Custom Tags can be anything that you think will help you remember a contact e.g. Sports, Hobby, Skills, location, event, company, or anything you can relate to him.

How to Add Tag?
Step 1: Select Contact > Open Contact Card by clicking the contact name
Step 2: Click on "Add Tag" Button
Step 3: Select from Default Tags or Add Custom Tags

100% Private.
The Tags you add remains private. The person you have tagged won't be above to see it. Other users won't be above to see it either. It's just meant for you. So go ahead tag your contact as #Boyfriend, #Bootlegger, #Supari, anything that you fancy.

Don't forget to add your own Hashtags
To make it easier for your contact to search you you can add your own #Tags e.g. Cyclist, Engineer, Infosys, etc. This way your contacts don't have to mess with your name & save it as Rakesh Infosys, Rakesh Engineer, Cyclist Rakesh, etc. You'll still be Ramesh Sinha.

Make Freinds, Grow your network
To see #Tags of the user, you have to be friends with them. So send a Friend request to all your contacts if they are on SharkID. If not, don't forget to invite them.

Feature 12 - Send Whatsapp message to callers without saving their contact

The Problem:
From time to time we call or get calls from people for some or the other task. If you have to send them a Whatsapp Message you will have to save their number first in contacts. Not any more. With SharkID you can send them Whatsapp message right from the recent call list. Answer one simple question about  Sending Whatsapp Message from SharkID & stand a chance to win Rs. 501.

How to send Whatsapp message to noncontacts/contacts?
Step 1: Open Recent Call List 
Step 2: Swipe desired contact from Right to left

Feature 11 - Messages & Notifications

Notification Center
From time to time, you will get messages from Friends, System or other user and they will be reflected under Notifications (bell icon on the header). When you open notification, you will see 3 tabs. Answer one simple question about  Notification Center & stand a chance to win Rs. 501.

Feature 10 - Mutual Friends & References for each & every contact

1. Know who Friend is calling
At times just Caller ID is not enough. You can't make out from name if the stranger who is calling is Friend or Spammer. Hence Shark ID introduced "whose friend is calling" to help you identify if the unknown caller is Friend or Foe.

2. Mutual Friends are of 3 Categories in Shark ID
Mutual Friend - List of your friend who know the caller, refer Example 1
Common Contact- List contact who know the caller, refer Example 2
Reference - List your friends who know a friend who knows the caller, refer Example 3

3. Understanding 3 categories of Mutual Friends with an Example:
Suppose your name is Ramesh Sinha
You receive a call from a person called Ritesh Patel, let's call him our caller & his number is not saved in your contact. Also assume Ritesh Patel is a Shark ID user

Example 1 - Mutual Friends
Assume you have a Friend called Rakesh Sinha, who also knows Ritesh Patel
So Rakesh Sinha will be show as Mutual Friend

Example 2:  Common Contacts
Assume you have a contact called Rohit Sharma. The caller Ritesh Patel also know him.
So Rohit Sharma will be shown as Common Contact

Example 3: References (Maybe)
You have contact called Utkarsh. Utkarsh is also Friend of Rakesh Sinha. So Utkarsh will be your Reference. As we are not 100% sure, this will be labelled as Maybe.

4. How to give permission to view Mutual Friends?
First time you try to view mutual friends, system will prompt you for permission.
If you say yes, only then can you see Mutual Friends.
If you say no, you cannot see mutual friend now will your name will appear as mutual friend of any contact.

5. How to stop your name from appearing as others mutual friend
Only if you give permission can you see mutual friends. If you remove permission, you name will not appear as mutual friend of anyone. To remove  go to;
Step 1: Menu > Settings >
Step 2: Switch off show mutual friends & references permission from blue to grey

6. It takes few seconds to find  Mutual Friends, Contacts & References?
That is because, we try to generate the connection real time, on demand. Speed will depend on your internet speed & number of other user searching our database. Because there are 2.5 M users, at times it may take upto 30 seconds. If it takes more, then try again, later.

Feature 9: Get number of Friend of Friends

Often we meet people, who are friend of Friends. At times we forget to exchange contacts. But worry not, Shark ID can help you with this problem.  Just check out our "You may also know feature.
- Click on My Network icon (before gift box on app header)
- Click no "You may also know"
- View the list of friend of friends

How to give permission for "You may also know"
Step 1: Go to Menu > Setting
Step 2: Turn on "You may also know" (Switch will turn blue)
Step 3: Go back & view "You may also know"

Send Friend request to only people you know

Do not send Friend request to strangers as they can see your mobile number, email ID, picture & other details you might have added to your contact card on SharkID. And do mention why you want to be friend when you are sending Friend Request.

I don't see any contact in "You may also know"
- You have not given the required permission
- Make few Friends on SharkID first
- Your internet is off

I don't want my name to appear in "You may also know"

If you want to access this feature, you have to give consent. If you do not want your name in "You may also know" then you can remove the permission.

Step 1: Go to Menu > Setting
Step 2: Turn off "You may also know" (Switch will turn grey)
Step 3: Go back & view "You may also know"

Feature 8: Know who has saved your number?

1. Know who has your number?
Over & above friend, family, colleagues & acquaintances, a lot many strangers have our number saved in their phonebook. Now you can know them.
- Click on My Network icon (before gift box on app header)
- Click no Who has my number
- View the list (If you are new user, it takes 24 hours to generate list)

2. How to safe guard your privacy?
It is possible that your contacts may have shared your number with strangers & they in turn might have shared your number with other tele callers, spammers, strangers, etc. Since now you can know who has your number, you can block them and thus avoid future calls, messages.

3. How to block strangers who have your mobile number in their phonebook?
Step 1: Open who has my number
Step 2: Select  stranger you wish to block & swipe left to right
Step 3: Click on Block icon

4. Keep exploring, you may find lost friends
Have you lost touch with old contacts, worry not. If they still have your number saved in their phonebook, their name will pop up in "who has my number" feature. This way Shark ID can help you get in touch with lost friends, again.

5. Who still has my old number? Upcoming feature
If you had a old number then you can still know how many of contacts still have it. Then you can notify them about your new number.  This magic will happen because of our strong backend embedded AI. Currently we are testing this feature.

6. I do not see any contacts under "Who has my number"?
This could be because of following reasons
- You are a new users. It takes 48 hours to generate the list for the first time
- You have not explored all the features of the app
- You have not made any friends on Shark ID yet
- None of our 2.5 Mn users have your number saved

4. How to remove Call reminder for a contact?
Step 1: Open Call Reminder, & select contact
Step 2: Swipe Left to Right
Step 3: Click on Remove icon

5. How to change Call date & time for a call Reminder?
Step 1: Open Call Reminder, & select contact
Step 2: Right to Left & click on Reminder icon
Step 3: Specify Date & Time to set new call reminder

6. Upcoming Know who will be calling you next - 
Soon you can know how many people have set a call reminder for you. This will help you plan your own call appointments and avoid clashes. If you are unable to take their calls, you can notify them upfront such that they don't call you on specific date & time & waste their time & efforts and get frustrated.
